James D. Shipman is a bestselling author of historical fiction published by Kensington. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, he began publishing short stories and poems while studying history at the University of Washington, later earning a law degree from Gonzaga University. His novels draw on real historical events, especially the Civil War and World War II, and he continues to practice law in Washington State.
