William W. Johnstone (1938–2004) was an American novelist who began writing in 1970 and became a full-time author after the 1979 publication of The Devil’s Kiss. He wrote more than 200 books across action, suspense, Western, science fiction, horror, military, and post-apocalyptic fiction, becoming best known for Western series such as The Mountain Man, Preacher, MacCallister, and Ashes.
