Theresa Brown, PhD, BSN, RN, is a Pittsburgh-based nurse and writer whose books draw on her experiences in oncology, hospice, and patient care. Her first book, Critical Care, chronicles her initial year as a nurse; The Shift became a New York Times bestseller, and Healing explores her experience as an oncology nurse diagnosed with breast cancer. She has also contributed frequently to The New York Times, CNN.com, The American Journal of Nursing, The Journal of the American Medical Association, and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
