Joseph Boyden is a Canadian novelist and short-story writer whose fiction explores Indigenous and First Nations history, culture, identity, and intergenerational trauma. His debut novel, Three Day Road, was followed by Through Black Spruce, The Orenda, and the novella Wenjack. His work has received major Canadian literary honors, including the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize and the Scotiabank Giller Prize.
