Carl Safina is an American ecologist and award-winning author whose lyrical nonfiction explores oceans, wildlife, conservation, and the human relationship with the living world. His books, including Song for the Blue Ocean, Beyond Words, Becoming Wild, and Alfie & Me, combine scientific research, natural history, personal narrative, and environmental advocacy. He is also the founding president of the Safina Center and an endowed professor for Nature and Humanity at Stony Brook University.
