Livia Bitton-Jackson (1931–2023), born Elli L. Friedmann, was a Holocaust survivor, historian, and author of memoirs about survival, displacement, and rebuilding a life after the Holocaust. Her best-known book, I Have Lived a Thousand Years: Growing Up in the Holocaust, was adapted from her memoir Elli: Coming of Age in the Holocaust and received the Christopher Award; she also wrote My Bridges of Hope and Hello, America. She earned a PhD in Hebrew culture and Jewish history from New York University and taught history and Judaic studies at the City University of New York.
