John Oller is a retired Wall Street attorney who began his writing career with a 1997 biography of actress Jean Arthur. Since retiring from law in 2011, he has focused on narrative nonfiction, writing biographies and histories about figures and institutions including Francis Marion, Kate Chase Sprague, early Wall Street law firms, Gilded Age crime and policing, and 1930s FBI agents.
