John Boessenecker is an American historian and author known for meticulously researched nonfiction about crime, law enforcement, outlaws, and vigilantes in the Old West. He published his first western-history article as a teenager and has written numerous books and articles on frontier history, including the New York Times bestselling Texas Ranger. He has also appeared as a historical commentator on PBS, The History Channel, and A&E.
