Thomas F. Madden is an American historian, author, and historical consultant who serves as Professor of History and Director of the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Saint Louis University. His writing career focuses on accessible narrative histories of the Crusades, Venice, Istanbul, Christianity, Islam, and republics, including The Concise History of the Crusades, Venice: A New History, Istanbul, Empires of Trust, and The Fall of Republics. His scholarship and public writing have earned major academic honors, including the Haskins Medal.
