William Dalrymple is a Scottish-born British historian and writer whose career began with travel writing, including In Xanadu and City of Djinns. Based in Delhi since 1989, he has become best known for richly researched narrative histories of India and the wider region, including White Mughals, The Last Mughal, The Anarchy, and The Golden Road. He also writes journalism, presents documentary programs, and co-founded the Jaipur Literature Festival.
