Yaa Gyasi is a Ghanaian-American novelist born in Ghana and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. She earned a BA in English from Stanford University and an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her debut novel, Homegoing (2016), won major literary awards, followed by Transcendent Kingdom (2020), establishing her as a prominent writer of diasporic and intergenerational fiction.
