Sadeqa Johnson is a New York Times bestselling author of six novels. A former public-relations manager who worked with prominent authors before becoming a novelist, she debuted with Love in a Carry-on Bag, which won the Phillis Wheatley Award for Best Fiction and a USA Best Book Award. Her writing career has evolved from contemporary fiction to acclaimed historical novels centered on race, identity, resilience, and Black women’s experiences; she is originally from Philadelphia and lives near Richmond, Virginia.
