Orlando Figes is a British-German historian and writer known for acclaimed books on Russian and European history. His works include A People’s Tragedy, Natasha’s Dance, The Whisperers, Crimea, Just Send Me Word, The Europeans, and The Story of Russia. He taught history at Cambridge and Birkbeck College, University of London, and his books have been translated into more than thirty languages.
