John McPhee is an American journalist and Pulitzer Prize–winning author of creative nonfiction. He began his writing career at Time magazine in 1957, joined The New Yorker in 1963, and has published more than 30 books, many of them combining literary journalism with reporting on science, geology, nature, people, and place. He has also taught journalism at Princeton University since 1974.
