Khaled Hosseini is an Afghan-American novelist born in Kabul in 1965. While practicing medicine, he began writing his debut novel, The Kite Runner, which was published in 2003 and launched a major literary career. He later wrote A Thousand Splendid Suns and And the Mountains Echoed, acclaimed novels often centered on Afghanistan, family, displacement, war, and redemption.
