Ocean Vuong is a Vietnamese American poet, novelist, and essayist born in Saigon and raised in Hartford, Connecticut. He earned an MFA in poetry from New York University and established his writing career with the poetry collections Night Sky with Exit Wounds and Time Is a Mother, followed by the novels On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous and The Emperor of Gladness. He is also a professor of modern poetry and poetics at New York University.
