Set in 1940, this story follows Staff Nurse Polly Brown as she begins her post at Cliffehaven Memorial Hospital to be near her injured husband, Adam, while her young daughter Alice is sent to safety in Canada. Tensions rise as she grapples with the possibility that Adam’s injuries may be severe, and distressing news about Alice's safety adds to her emotional turmoil.
