As summer approaches, former sitcom writer Dee Stern aims to rebrand her motel, nicknamed the "Murder Motel," by introducing a family-friendly gold panning activity. Just as she hopes to attract tourists, a real gold nugget discovery sparks a viral sensation, bringing an influx of adventurers—and trouble. Among the newcomers is Sylvan Burr, a self-important tech retiree, whose untimely demise in a mineshaft turns Dee's business into a hotbed of suspicion. Now, with danger closing in, Dee must navigate a web of enemies and unearth the truth to protect her future and her motel.
