The Last Summer

Job and Jemima Hardy have relocated from their Sussex village to a modest home in Walworth, attracted by an affordable rent despite the presence of a poltergeist. Their eldest son, Jonathan, adapts quickly to city life and forms a tentative lunchtime friendship with Emma Somers, the niece of a military man. As the summer of 1939 unfolds, the looming threat of war forces both families to confront the impending changes in their lives and the decisions they must make for the future.
