In "House Jhereg," Vlad Taltos finds himself in a perilous position as the organized crime syndicate hunts him down and a bounty is placed on his head in Dragaera City. Compounding his troubles, he learns that his friend Aliera has been arrested by the Empire for practicing elder sorcery, despite her history with it, and her powerful allies seem absent in her defense. Conflicted and aware of the dangers, Vlad knows it would be foolish to intervene, yet he feels compelled to become deeply involved in the unfolding crisis.
