Amid a sweltering heat wave in Cape Cod, the So Noir literary retreat at Castleton Manor transforms attendees into aspiring detectives, donning trench coats and fedoras. Librarian Faith Newberry finds herself in a precarious position when she is asked to deliver a lecture about the detective code, all while her observant feline companion, Watson, evolves into an unexpected sleuth. When local chef Oscar North mysteriously falls to his death, suspicion of foul play ignites chaos among the retreat-goers, prompting them to investigate his demise. As Faith presses for answers, she becomes entangled in a web of secrets and danger, racing against time to uncover the truth before becoming the next victim.
