Dr. Siri, the only coroner of Laos and a resilient 74-year-old, finds himself entangled in a perilous investigation after three young Laotian women, all studying in Eastern bloc countries, are found dead from fencing sword wounds. Lured to Cambodia with an all-expenses-paid trip, he faces accusations of spying for the Vietnamese, leading to imprisonment and direct threats against his life by the relentless Khmer Rouge. As he navigates this treacherous landscape, his survival is anything but certain.
