Lydia Chin, a Chinese-American private investigator in New York City's Chinatown, takes on what she thinks is a straightforward task: delivering the ransom for stolen fashion sketches belonging to designer Genna Jing. However, the job quickly spirals into chaos as the ransom is stolen, her partner Bill is arrested, and her client dismisses her. Unwilling to walk away, Lydia and Bill embark on a complex investigation that takes them from Chinatown's sweatshops to Manhattan's elite society, uncovering a web of crime and danger along the way as they seek to unravel the mystery behind the theft and its darker implications.
