James Keene is an American author whose writing career began with In with the Devil, a 2010 memoir co-written with Hillel Levin about his undercover work for the FBI inside a maximum-security prison. The book was later adapted into the Apple TV+ series Black Bird, for which Keene served as executive producer. He has since written The Chicago Phoenix and The Wanderer, continuing to focus on crime, redemption, and real-life criminal cases.
