Hala Alyan is a Palestinian American poet, novelist, and memoirist whose writing explores displacement, family, identity, war, and belonging. She is the author of five poetry collections, including The Twenty-Ninth Year and The Moon That Turns You Back, the novels Salt Houses and The Arsonists’ City, and the memoir I’ll Tell You When I’m Home. She also works as a clinical psychologist and psychology professor at New York University.
