Truman J. Smith (1924–2011) was a U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel, filmmaker, television director, and author. He wrote The Wrong Stuff: The Adventures and Misadventures of an 8th Air Force Aviator, a memoir based on his 35 B-17 bombing missions over Europe during World War II. The book was published in 1996 and later used in history courses at the U.S. Air Force Academy and Texas Tech University.
