John R. Bruning is an American military and aviation historian who began writing professionally in the 1990s after working in the computer-game industry, as a sports stringer, and on documentary scripts. He has written and co-written more than twenty nonfiction books, including bestselling works on World War II aviation, Iraq and Afghanistan combat, counterterrorism, and special operations. He has also worked as an embedded combat correspondent, historical consultant, and documentary producer.
