Richard Zacks is an American author and journalist, born in Savannah, Georgia, and educated at the University of Michigan and Columbia Journalism School. After working as a syndicated columnist for the New York Daily News and as a freelance writer for publications including The Atlantic, Time, and the Village Voice, he began publishing books in 1994. His nonfiction combines extensive historical research with an often witty, irreverent narrative style, covering subjects ranging from social history and biography to pirates and American history.
