Nicole Mones is an American novelist and food writer whose writing career grew out of 18 years trading textiles in China. Her novels—including Lost in Translation, A Cup of Light, The Last Chinese Chef, and Night in Shanghai—blend emotionally driven stories with detailed explorations of Chinese history, culture, and cuisine. Her fiction has won major awards and been translated into more than 22 languages, while her nonfiction on China has appeared in publications including The New York Times Magazine, Gourmet, the Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post.
