Joel F. Harrington is an American historian and author who has taught at Vanderbilt University since 1989, where he is Centennial Professor of History. He writes for both scholarly and general audiences about pre-modern Germany, especially its social, religious, and legal history. His books include The Faithful Executioner and Dangerous Mystic, and his work has been translated into numerous languages.
