Rodman Philbrick is an American novelist who began writing novels at sixteen and first published mystery, crime, and suspense fiction for adults. His 1993 young-adult debut, Freak the Mighty, became an award-winning classroom classic and was adapted into the film The Mighty. He has since written numerous books for children and young adults, including Max the Mighty, The Last Book in the Universe, and the Newbery Honor-winning The Mostly True Adventures of Homer P. Figg.
