Dominic Smith is an Australian-American novelist who grew up in Sydney and holds an MFA in writing from the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of six novels, beginning with The Mercury Visions of Louis Daguerre in 2006, and is best known for the New York Times bestselling historical novel The Last Painting of Sara de Vos. His fiction often combines meticulous historical research with themes of art, memory, family, and identity; he also teaches in the Warren Wilson MFA Program for Writers.
