Sarah Dunant is a British novelist, broadcaster, critic, and lecturer who began her writing career in crime fiction, creating the Hannah Wolfe thrillers. She later became internationally known for richly researched historical novels, especially her bestselling books set in Renaissance Italy, including The Birth of Venus, In the Company of the Courtesan, Sacred Hearts, Blood & Beauty, In the Name of the Family, and The Marchesa. She has also worked extensively in BBC radio and television and lectures on Italian history, Renaissance art, and women’s lives.
