Tim Hannigan is a British travel writer, narrative historian, and academic born in Penzance, Cornwall. He began his writing career as a travel journalist and guidebook writer in Indonesia before becoming a full-time author. His books combine travel, history, landscape, and cultural criticism, including The Granite Kingdom, The Travel Writing Tribe, A Brief History of Indonesia, and Raffles and the British Invasion of Java.
