Ron Chernow is an American writer, journalist, historian, and biographer whose writing career began with The House of Morgan (1990), an acclaimed history of American banking that won the National Book Award. He became known for richly researched biographies of major figures in American business and politics, including John D. Rockefeller, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Ulysses S. Grant, and Mark Twain. His biography Washington: A Life won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Biography, and his Alexander Hamilton biography inspired the Broadway musical Hamilton.
