Ian McGuire is an English novelist and academic who has taught at the University of Manchester since 1996 and co-founded its Centre for New Writing. His novels include Incredible Bodies (2006), the Booker-longlisted The North Water (2016), The Abstainer (2020), and White River Crossing (2026). He also writes and teaches in American literature and creative writing.
