H. Joaquin Jackson (1935–2016) was a retired Texas Ranger whose 27-year career across the Texas-Mexico border became the basis for his writing. He coauthored the memoirs One Ranger (2005), with David Marion Wilkinson, and One Ranger Returns (2008), with James L. Haley, recounting his law-enforcement career, investigations, and personal experiences. He later worked in private investigations and served as a consultant and occasional actor in film and television.
