James R. Hansen is a professor emeritus of history at Auburn University and a former NASA historian. He has built a writing career around nonfiction about aviation, aerospace, space exploration, and notable adventurers, including the authorized Neil Armstrong biography First Man, a New York Times bestseller adapted into an Academy Award-winning film. His later work, Completely Mad, chronicles the rival solo Atlantic rowing expeditions of Tom McClean and John Fairfax.
