Samuel Eliot Morison (1887–1976) was an American historian, author, and Harvard professor whose prolific writing career focused on American, maritime, and naval history. He wrote acclaimed biographies including Admiral of the Ocean Sea, a Pulitzer Prize winner, and produced the fifteen-volume History of United States Naval Operations in World War II. His other major works include The Maritime History of Massachusetts, The Growth of the American Republic, and Oxford History of the American People.
