Jerald Podair is a historian, author, and editor who served as Professor of History and Robert S. French Professor of American Studies at Lawrence University. His writing focuses on twentieth-century American history, urban history, race and ethnic relations, civil rights, and labor, including The Strike That Changed New York, Bayard Rustin: American Dreamer, City of Dreams, and Wrecked: The Edmund Fitzgerald and the Sinking of the American Economy, co-written with Thomas Nelson.
