Shelby Cunningham is a Nantucket-born writer and the daughter of bestselling novelist Elin Hilderbrand. A 2024 graduate of St. George’s School in Rhode Island, she drew on her boarding-school experience to co-write The Academy with Hilderbrand, contributing student-perspective scenes and editing the manuscript for authenticity. The Academy launched her writing career, and the pair continued their collaboration with The Thoroughbreds.
