Edward S. Herman (1925–2017) was an American economist, media scholar, and social critic who wrote extensively on economics, political economy, U.S. foreign policy, human rights, and mass media. A longtime Wharton finance professor, he authored and co-authored books including Corporate Control, Corporate Power, The Political Economy of Human Rights, and Manufacturing Consent with Noam Chomsky; his writing developed a widely discussed propaganda model of mass media.
