Howard Zinn (1922–2010) was an American historian, author, professor, playwright, and activist. He wrote dozens of books and articles on race, class, war, civil rights, and political history, including the influential A People’s History of the United States, which presented American history from the perspective of ordinary and marginalized people. He also wrote memoirs, essays, political works, and plays such as Marx in Soho and Emma.
