Thomas Keneally is an Australian novelist, playwright, and nonfiction author who began his writing career in 1964. He has published more than thirty novels, many blending historical research with literary fiction, including Schindler's List, which won the Booker Prize in 1982, and The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, Gossip from the Forest, and Confederates, all Booker-shortlisted. His nonfiction includes memoir, biography, and history, and his work frequently explores war, colonialism, Australia, and moral conflict.
