Father Ed is the first biography of Jesuit Father Edward Dowling, whose spiritual guidance profoundly impacted Bill Wilson, co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, and shaped the development of the twelve-step movement. A dedicated advocate for recovery, social justice, and civil rights, Dowling’s ministry extended beyond helping alcoholics to supporting those facing various personal struggles. His life and work highlight a commitment to compassion, faith, and social engagement that resonated with broader societal issues of his time.
