AIDS art is primarily an American phenomenon, developed in response to the epidemic's impact on certain communities, often focusing on homosexual themes. While similar artistic expressions have emerged in places like Africa, they tend to be less prominent and often perceived as less influential or deeply rooted compared to their American counterparts. The African examples, such as embroidered works and message-printed T-shirts, are viewed as less impactful and more superficial in their social effects.
