Night on Fire

Thirteen-year-old Billie Simms from Anniston, Alabama, grapples with her town's entrenched segregation as the Civil Rights Movement gains momentum across the nation. When the Freedom Riders plan to pass through her town to protest discrimination, Billie hopes for change but is confronted with the harsh reality of local racism. Faced with a moral dilemma, she must choose between silence and standing up for her beliefs, ultimately uncovering both the prejudice in her community and her own unexamined biases. Through her journey and newfound friendships, Billie embarks on a path of self-discovery amidst the struggle for equality.
