Set five years after the Civil War, this story follows Victoria Montgomery, who, after losing everything, enters into an arranged marriage in Montana to honor her father's wishes, despite reservations about her new life. Meanwhile, Chance Turner, a retired Union soldier, agrees to marry Victoria’s sister to help save her family’s shipping business, even though he is hesitant about marriage. The narrative explores their struggles with trust, independence, and the challenges of starting anew in the post-war frontier.
