Executive Leadership Lessons & Opportunities for Business Technology Innovation

This study investigates how transformational leadership behaviors of Chief Information Officers (CIOs) influence the selection of computing platforms for critical business applications. Analyzing data from 151 North American CIOs, the research identifies significant links between certain leadership traits—such as Intellectual Stimulation and Inspirational Motivation—and the choice of more innovative, agile platforms. The findings highlight the potential impact of CIO leadership on fostering IT innovation, improving business performance, and supporting organizational change.
