Elysium

In post-Civil War Louisiana, Lily Palmer seeks refuge on her uncle's farm with her daughter, where she grapples with her preconceived notions about race and learns to appreciate the humanity in those around her. Meanwhile, Alistair Whiteaker, recently returned from war and haunted by his past as a plantation owner, strives to make amends and build a family with Lily, even as he confronts external threats. Additionally, Thomas Bickell, an ex-slave, fiercely advocates for Black suffrage while dealing with personal turmoil and the dangers posed by white supremacists. Together, their intertwined lives reveal a complex struggle for justice and healing amidst a turbulent society.
